Trinity College.
Trinity College known as the College of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Queen Elizabeth near Dublin. Trinity is a research university and the sole constituent college of the University of Dublin in Ireland. The College was founded in 1592 as the “mother” of a new university, modelled after the collegiate universities of Oxford and of Cambridge, but, unlike these, only one college was ever established; as such, the designations “Trinity College” and “University of Dublin” are usually synonymous for practical purposes. It is one of the seven ancient universities of Britain and Ireland as well as Ireland’s oldest university. Originally established outside the city walls of Dublin in the buildings of the dissolved Augustinian Priory of All Hallows, Trinity College is now surrounded by Dublin and is located on College Green, opposite the former Irish Houses of Parliament. The College proper occupies 190,000 m2 (47 acres), with many of its buildings ranged around large quadrangles (known as ‘squares’) and two sports playing fields. Trinity College is also home to the famous Book of Kell's. A walk through the college grounds or a guided tour is a must for any visitor to Dublin.

RICHMOND BARRACKS.
Richmond Barracks in Inchicore is a key site for many significant events in Ireland’s history and of particular significance to the period around 1916. A new exhibition centre has been developed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising. Set in the historic Richmond Barracks – within whose walls over 3,000 Irish rebels were held – the interactive, multimedia attraction will trace the story of the site from military barracks to housing estate and from school, to exhibition centre.
The leaders of the 1916 Rising were interned and court-martialled within the barracks before being transferred to Kilmainham Gaol. It was also from here that soldiers, including the poet Francis Ledwidge, were transported to fight in World War 1. The immense potential to develop the Richmond Barracks as a visitor centre which will contribute to the historic, social and cultural life of the city and country has been recognised and the restoration of the Barracks has been funded as a national commemorative project. |

The Book of Kells at Trinity College
The Book of Kells, also known as the Book of Columba, is an ornately illustrated manuscript, produced by Celtic monks around 800 A.D.. Different theories have it produced either whole or in part at Iona in Scotland and/or at Kells in Ireland. The name, Book of Kells, is derived from the Abbey of Kells in Kells, County Meath, where it was kept for much of the medieval period.
It is one of the most lavishly illuminated manuscripts to survive the medieval period and has been described as the zenith of Western calligraphy and illumination. It contains the four gospels of the Bible in Latin, along with prefatory and explanatory matter decorated with numerous colourful illustrations and illuminations. The book of Kells is on permanent display located in the Old Library in the Library at Trinity College Dublin.
