DUBLIN TRAMS

Picture
The first Dublin horse tram ran in Dublin in February 1872, the service operated between College Green and Garville Avenue in Rathgar. Two horses pulled the double-deck tram on tracks with the driver and the passengers on board, the lower deck was protected from the elements but the top deck and open. Trams were initially laid mainly to the southern suburbs of the city and catered for the middle-class. As the tram was a private venture, this made eminent sense for extracting substantial fares from the passengers.
